Lucas Oil MX Champs: Dungey Holds the Keys to the Title

Honda’s Eli Tomac when under the knife to fix his busted up wings so the title is up for grabs at the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship. And that being said, Katooms Ryan Dungey holds the keys to the title. Is he the fastest rider week in and week out? Sometimes no and sometimes yes. Some might bag on his way of handling things but you have to give him props, he is fast, always in the mix and in the end he has won championships with being steady and pretty much injury-free. When the buck stops, the point leader wins the title, not the guy that waxed the field for the first 5 motos then gets hurt. Yes the math is there for defending title holder Ken Roczen to win, yet he would have to dominate the rest of the season and hope that Dungey would have a bad moto or two. Dungey’s strategy works, he is one of the smartest and knows when he is beat and when he can win and this is what very will will earn him the outdoor title.

In other news, Chad Reed did indeed race last weekend after making some gestures that he would stay home if “they” didn’t let him wear his new 360 Fly camera. We figured he would have folded regardless, it was just good old Reed marketing and now more people are aware of what his new sponsor does then ever before. Job well done. The camera does see pretty cool thus far.

2015 Red Bull Hare Scramble at Erzberg

erzaberg2015
When is too tough to tough, the answer was at the 2015 Erzberg event. One section toward the end proved to be unrideable. The top riders had to ban together to pull each bike up the gnarly section and in turn, the 4-rider grouping of Jonny Walker (UK), Alfredo Gómez (ESP), Andreas Lettenbichler (GER) and Graham Jarvis (UK) worked together as well as two other riders. After the group effort, the four-pack decided to ride across the finish dead even and call it a tie for the win.

Meanwhile in Baja at the 500…

While videos of Trophy Trucks ramming locals who thought driving correct direction on a race course filled the internets, motorcycles were crashing head-on into more locals who drove backwards. So nothing is changing in Baja, Danny Hamel would be pissed. The following from a SCORE press release:

With a lot of help from his friends Max Eddy Jr, Ian Young and Justin Morgan, Ricky Brabec, Oak Hills, Calif., riding on the factory-supported No. 1x THR Motorsports Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450F was the rider of record for the overall motorcycle and Unlimited motorcycle class winning team after being the eighth motorcycle off the starting line early Saturday morning.
With a one-race excused absence rule in SCORE, Brabec still earned the season points as the defending SCORE Unlimited class champion saw his team when this race for the second straight year. With teammates Max Eddy Jr, Barstow, Calif., Ian Young, San Clemente, Calif. and Justin Morgan handling the riding, Brabec’s team finished the race in 10:09:55, averaging 50.23. mph to win for the first time in three SCORE races this year.
Morgan was riding early in the race when he passed leader Justin Jones, Murrieta, Calif., co-rider for Colton Udall the rider of record for the No. 5x Ox Motorsports Honda CRF450X. Jones had been injured in an accident at race-mile 92. With the 5x motorcycle unable to continue the race, Jones was transported back to the United States with a possible broken pelvis.

Those words were pulled straight off the SCORE press release, sorry! We were just passing it along. See how much motorcycles matter to SCORE?

I’m not so sure SCORE matters to SCORE anymore.

100 miles of pavement in a 500 mile race…the word in Baja was Roger didn’t pay the ranchers for the past couple years. Now I don’t know if that is true or not, but why else would we have to pound so much assfought? Lol
