What it is

  • Klim's first attempt to make a glove that appeals to racers everywhere.

The XC glove is Klims' race inspired minimalist off-road riding glove. Designed to have a snug fit using a single layer ultra grip palm construction with a slip-on cuff. There is a layer of light padding on top of the hand in parts and over the fingers, thumb, and knuckles. This glove is also claimed to have a super breathable design with some perforated panels.

"Klim's XC gloves are desinged for racers everywhere with a snug, comfortable fit, while being able to take the beating that comes with racing. "

How it works

  • The fit is snug and comfortable with the "comfort padding" running across the top of these gloves
  • There are no straps on these gloves preventing you from adjusting the cuff
  • These gloves have excellent dry grip if you like the minimalist palm material.

The XC glove should be what every simple glove should aspire to be as far as durability and fit go. When you slip the glove on you instantly feel the light padding that covers the whole top of your hand, your index, middle, ring finger, and thumb. Yet the padding is placed just on top these areas so it does not constrict your hand movements at all and in reality just feels good, it wouldn't do anything to protect your fingers. On the palm of glove you don't have padding, but just a single layer of perforated material that grips extremely well. Small square rubberised dots all over the inside of the thumb, index and middle finger as well as the palm add grip in the dry yet can become slippery when wet. At first these rubber dots gripped almost too good when I first started riding with these gloves, those dots would grip to the levers causing my fingers to move inside the gloves, which was uncomfortable, but after a few rides, that problem would go away and the gloves finally broke in gripping where and when you want them too.

The fit of the gloves is normal. They're actually sized like other gloves where most Klim gear tends to run a size large. On me the large gloves have a nice snug feel that's not too loose and not too tight. Lacking a cuff attachment or wrist closure the glove can be a bit tight getting on and off by comparison, or if you have fat and small hands, this isn't the best system. At $39.95 they are priced on the high side of most glove offerings, especially for a simple glove with little protective parts built in. Like most gloves it is a question of fit on how well they will work for you and there are no standout oddities in this Klim glove.

"For a pair of gloves that just go along with the gear, the XC gloves are great, but that's all they are, simple, pricey gloves that go with the rest of the XC gear."
