What it is

When you are comfortable on your dirt bike, it can make quite a difference in your riding performance.  Grips play a big part in finding that comfortable set up. However, grips are personal preference; no two people like the same thing.  ODI offers a great selection of mx grips with all sorts of designs to fit every riding style and preference.  They have many colors to choose from too.  If you are picky about grips, this would be a great place to start.

ODI offers a full waffle design grip, which has a larger diameter for bigger hands and helps cushion bike vibration. The half-waffle grips have a softer feel but are still very durable.  For ultimate soft comfort, they offer the PRO Edition Half-Waffle.  The no waffle grip has a thinner profile for riders with small hands or those who prefer to feel more response from the bike.  The test of time has shown the vintage mushroom motocross grips are still popular with their comfortable ribbed design, which also helps reduce arm pump.

How it works

  • Grip material is soft enough without wearing out prematurely.
  • They handle the crashes as good as any grips I've tried.

For everyday motocross riding, the ODI Half-Waffle MX Grips have optimum grip feel and excellent hand traction. This type of grip is not too thick or too thin for the average hand, allowing a good hold but without getting arm pump. You usually can't get this incredible hand traction in grips that last this long and do not break down easily.

With many grips you have to compromise comfort for durability.  Some grips are made out of plastic that's hard as rock, which may have a longer lifespan, but they leave you with a fist full of blisters.  The ODI grips rubber is soft enough to conform to your hands, yet are very durable.  The half-waffle design gives a cushioned and flexible feel.  Everybody gets blisters now and then, but the half-waffle grips seem to minimize that for me.

On some new bikes the stock grips are narrow or short. For example, the KX250 stock grips are short about 3/16th on each side compared to any other average grip.  So that makes it feel like the bars are wider than they really are.  Good luck with the nightmare of getting the vulcanized OEM grips off too, at some point you'll be tempted to just get new bars over it.  In the long run, it's worth taking the time to swap grips to improve the fit and feel of the bars.

So basically, one of the best ways to get a little extra comfort out of your bike is to change up your mx grips. It’s definitely the fastest and least expensive way. If you are getting blisters, arm pump or you just need a change, try out the ODI grips. They work great on big bikes, pit bikes and even broom handles.
