I Spy: Sherco 300cc Fuel Injected Two Stroke
We have been hearing rumors that KTM has been working on a fuel injected two stroke for several years now. Did Sherco beat Orange to the punch? Moto Vert posted photos and images of a prototype 300 being tested. The story was re-published in english over at Enduro21.com. According to the story the bike is set for possible production as a 2016 model. The bike has two injectors, one for fuel and one for oil injection. It does not appear to be a direct-port fuel injection engine. The KTM rumors point to a direct port fuel injected engine that pumps fuel directly into the combustion chamber. The future of two stroke technology will center around fuel delivery and this is just the beginning. here is a link to the story over at enduro21.com
Team USA to honor Kurt Caselli at the Six Days
The United States bid for glory in Caselli’s honour
During the first week of November the enduro World will be closely watching events unfold in San Juan in Argentina,
where the eighty-ninth edition of the FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) will take place. Attracting over five
hundred riders from thirty different nations, this year’s ISDE is set to be a key event of the 2014 enduro calendar.
Delivering one of the standout performances at last year’s ISDE in Italy by placing as runner-up to France, the United
States head to Latin America with high hopes of equalling or bettering that result.
Growing stronger and stronger in the ISDE during the last few years, the United States have now become one of the
most competitive nations in the race and want nothing more than to capture a debut win in the FIM World Trophy
competition.
But for the six-man team of Michael Brown – Husqvarna, Thaddeus Duvall – Honda, Charlie Mullins – KTM, Zach
Osborne – Husqvarna, Taylor Robert – KTM and Kailub Russell – KTM their participation in San Juan will be tinged
with sadness. The United States will begin a new chapter in their recent ISDE participation following the loss of their
team captain Kurt Caselli, who tragically lost his life shortly after last year’s event whilst competing in another
competition.
Caselli played an integral role in bringing the United States back to the forefront of the ISDE. Regenerating interest
in the event, Caselli led the United States to victory in the Junior World Trophy category in Lake Taupo, New
Zealand back in 2006. Since that historic moment, he continued to act as team captain.
“Kurt’s love for the ISDE came from his dad Rich,” explains the US team manager Antti Kallonen. “Rich was
determined to get the US on the World map and was instrumental in getting the team to New Zealand in 2006.
Kurt’s passion for ISDE grew from there. When Rich passed away in 2008, Kurt took over as the team leader. His
determination to make the US successful in the ISDE was huge. He put so much into the team and helped so many
riders. He always wanted the US to be competing as one of the event’s best teams.”
Behind the scenes the United States World Trophy Team has been busy preparing themselves for this year’s six-day
challenge. The belief that victory is possible rides high within the camp.
“Last year we equalled our best ever result and finished second.” continues Antti. “But we’re not stopping
there. Our team is very motivated this year and there is not one rider that wouldn’t want anything more than to win
for Kurt. We have done more preparation on all levels for this year’s race than we’ve done in the past. Our team
knows it will be a very hard challenge but I feel we are ready.”
“We believe we can win the ISDE – that’s our goal. It would go down in the history books as the first ever win for the
US, but more importantly it would be an incredible achievement in Kurt’s honour.”
The 2014 ISDE takes place in San Juan, Argentina from 3rd to 8th November inclusive.

KTM RACING SIGNS JEFFREY HERLINGS FOR 2016-2017
KTM Racing has announced that Jeffrey Herlings, the most talented rider in the World Championship Motocross paddock has been signed to ride as a Red Bull KTM factory rider until the end of the 2017 season.
In 2009 Jeffrey rode for JM Racing KTM, his first step to becoming a full factory rider with the KTM team. His opportunity came to move into the MX2 KTM Factory Team at the end of 2009 when, shortly after his fifteenth birthday he had his first factory ride.
Herlings, a Red Bull athlete, rode his first full MX2 season with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in 2010 and became the youngest ever MX2 GP winner riding in front of his home crowd at Valkenswaard in April of that year.
Since then he has amassed an impressive total of two MX2 World Championship titles (2012 and 2013), 43 GP wins and in 2014 had an unbeaten streak of 18 race wins. He also won all the GPs in which he started in 2014 however an untimely injury prevented him from competing in the next three GPs of the season.
Jeffrey showed immense courage and determination, and the respect of the entire world of motorcycling to return to the final round in Mexico, attempting to seal his third title by racing in the final round while riding with a still injured leg. He finished the championship in second place conceding only in the final race of the season.
Jeffrey Herlings: “I’ve now had five seasons with KTM and I’m very happy that Pit (Beirer) is giving me a chance to stay with the team for another three years. The team has done a great job and I hope we can continue with good news and good wins in the future.”
Pit Beirer, Head of KTM Motorsport: “We are very pleased to have reached agreement with Jeffrey to ride for the factory team through to the end of 2017. Anyone who is a follower of the sport recognizes that he is a rider of passion and exceptional skill and we are very proud that he will be on our bikes and in our factory team in the coming seasons.”
