Game changer at 226 pounds: 2015 1/2 KTM 450 FE
DBT just attended the KTM team launch and the unveiling of the anticipated 2015 1/2 KTM FE edition(s). Now the FE is not just one size but also comes in a 250. In addition to the bikes looking pretty sick, the sick part was the fact Katoom was able build an all-new machine is lighter than ever. Yes those 450 numbers are correct. We saw the bike on a scale and the number did read 226 pounds. This means KTM will now offer the lightest bike in the filed – and this sucker is still electric start. Sound Out at 112db
The FIM just sent out a letter about some new style mufflers to meet the 112db @ 11,000rpm mark. They stated the new rules are for track racing and reached out to exhaust manufactures to get involved. The release did not give details on what FIM series will have to pass the new regulations, just stated tracking racing. It also did not say if the new rules will apply to the FIM AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series. The 112db @ 11,000 rpm test is also often called the two-meter max test. The sound must not spike over the limit when the engine is instantly revved to the max rpm with a sound meter placed two meters behind the muffler.
