It was a short stint and it looked like the start of a duel between Ken Roczen and Ryan Dungey. This is the second time in recent years that the Team HRC Honda team has lost the point lead after winning several races early in the season. When it comes to consistency, you just can’t beat Dungey and his ability to be right there, maybe not even winning every week, yet still winnning when it is all said and done. Roczen and Dungey were on the same page this season with regard to speed. Now with Roczen sidelined with a broken left arm, Dungey could ride 80 percent and still probably win the title. RD does not even need to win every race, although if he keeps getting solid starts and going as fast as he has been, I can’t see anyone stepping up to his level now.

Such a bummer for Roczen, his team and his program. It was a strange crash and it looked like he got kicked off the bike but when he ejected his rear wheel has yet to come around on him. It is a feeling and you know when you are not going to make it and its time to eject but in this case you never know, Roczen may have kicked his bike back into position as he was going over but the video does not show him totally going over the bar, although he was kicked off to the side of the bike before he came down from two stores up before slamming into the ground. From the video you can instantly see there was something going on with his arm.

Right now, unless riders like Eli Tomac, Marvin Musquin, Cole Seely or Cooper Webb light a fire under their program, there is no beating Mr. consistent Ryan Dungey. For now lets wait and see but the rest of the season could be a race for second place.
