What it is

Dirt Tricks 520 chain wear gauge is a very simple tool to measure if you chain has reached its wear limit. Like a ruler made specifically for showing you the health of your chain, it is produced in both stainless steel and hard-anodized aluminum.

How it works

  • This sano tool takes 20-seconds to tell you if your chain is worn out.

Using this tool is simple. You just get the chain tight by putting the bike in gear and rolling the wheel backwards to get the tension out of the top of the chain. Then you hook the rounded end of the tool on the chain and put the "ruler" end where it falls. The laser etched diagram on the tool shows you the difference between new and worn out. You can see instantly your chain's health. It takes the guess work out of measuring and can save you money in sprockets, as worn chains kill even new sprockets.

At $14.99 you could say it is a lot of money for a silly tool but what is your time worth? And do you have the proper calipers to measure exactly what length for how many pins was that again?!? $14.99 is cheap--especially to add to a killer set of tools.
