What it is

  • A replacement mud flap to protect the rear shock from debris kicked up by the rear tire.

Cycra makes a replacement mud flap for most off-road motorcycles. The simple plastic part is made through an injection molding process and in some cases is manufactured a little wider than standard for additional shock protection. The plastic material is often times stronger and stiffer than standard as well. On most models there are color options as well.

How it works

  • Bolts on in minutes.
  • Stronger more robust material than most stock parts.
  • Different colors can improve the look of your bike.

From your first feel of the Cycra Mud Flap you will notice the build and construction of the part is a lot more robust than the stock part you are replacing, if it is still attached to the bike. The stock ones go missing from being torn apart or loose bolts in the mud as much as they wear through from tires running on them in high-speed running. Especially with shorter chain lengths and having the tire up close to the neck of the swingarm.

Instillation is usually very simple, typically two bolts and the part is in place. And with that we found you can just forget about the Cycra part. It does its job and lasts way better than the softer standard mud flaps it replaces. Ours has lasted through gooey cake mud, flying rocks, oversized tired at high-speeds, everything. It’s color has stayed true and we frankly didn’t remember we were testing it until another bike needed one. It has not worn through like the stock ones do as they blow in the wind against the tire and end up with a hole in them.

If there are any downsides it would be the part is stiff and will not fold up or flip out of the way to make shock removal easier (especially on KTM PDS bikes) but two bolts isn’t that much to ask. On some bikes the flap can make a clapping noise against the swingarm, but this is rare.

For $12.95 this part either replaces or fixes a problem you have or will have at some time. Easy decision compared to replacing with a stock part, use the Cycra part.
