The CRF125F replaces one of the worlds most popular and best selling dirt bikes, the XR/CRF100. It’s intended purpose is for beginners, trail riders, mom and your sister. But lets face it, you and your buddies are going to get on this thing and beat it! This bike has been around in different forms since 1981 with very few updates. The XR/CRF100 inspired backyard races all over the country, from Langtown to Screwydilla. I’m sure Honda never intended for the bike to be ridden by adults, let alone pros, but these things just happen.
The CRF125F is a little heaver than the XR/CRF100 because of the battery and electronics that go with it, but it is a good trade off. The magic button really is magic. One down side to the CRF125F is that it has a much heavier fly wheel feel than the XR/CRF100.
The highlight of the bike is the body work. Half the fun of owning a pit bike is making it look like a full sized race bike. Will the CRF125F be as popular as the XR/CRF100? My dad and his buddies grew up on these and they act like the world revolves around them, but I guess my buddies and I do too. When is Honda going to stuff the motor into the 150R chassis like so many backyard mechanics have done in the past? I’m guessing never. Either way, it is a great bike as is. Picture five of your buddies in your backyard racing around, you can’t have more fun on any dirt bike than this.
