2015 Yamaha YZ250–Chris Barrett

I generally lean toward the YZ125 for my favorite two-stroke mx bike, but I got to spend some time recently on the YZ250 out at Perris and really started to enjoy it. Similar to its little brother, the YZ250 is a solid package. A strong motor, which is smooth yet snappy, combined with a stable chassis and decent suspension make the YZ250 an all around fun bike to rail around on. It’s also a nice option for the amateur kids to compete with the 250 four-strokes. This bike is light and easy to toss around on a tight track. It shoots out of corners and over jumps with a crisp bark that’ll have even the hardcore four-stroke fans smiling. With the power of the YZ250, it is a little more critical on setup compared to the YZ125, but luckily for me, the standard settings are close to what I like. The tighter the track the more fun I had on this bike, especially after spending time on the bigger four-strokes. The YZ250 is a blast to ride, and with four-strokes dominating the motocross world, it is a breath of fresh air to hear that 250 sing.
