As I’m sure you’ve heard it time and time again, 125s are a lot of fun! I own one and when I ride it, I always have a good time. It’s hard not to smile when you’re screaming around on these little two-smokers. They are light with enough power to get your jollies, but not enough to scare you. They teach you to carry speed in the turns and require less time in the gym to pound out motos – These are just a few reasons that I praise Yamaha for keeping this flame going. Yamaha has found that magical unicorn of motocross bikes in the YZ125 and that is why it doesn’t need any major changes and they just make refinements. The YZ125 is the only bike that I can jump on and ride without having to play with sag or clickers and tweak and tweak. From the chassis to the suspension to the motor; the bike is a complete unit and everything works together how it should. The motor rips and pulls my 200 pounds out of corners and over jumps. Sure, I can’t clear everything from the inside, but when I ride a 125, it’s not for a lap time, but for fun. I look for the fun lines and will go out of my way to hit them. Most of the time, it’s railing the outside berms, even if they are slower and waaaaaaay outside. I always know what to expect when I ride a YZ125 and that’s what makes it so special.
