I have to agree 125s are the funnest bikes ever made and the 2015 YZ 125 is right at the top. Some of the fun of riding a two stroke 125 is how high you can rev them and the YZ revs as high as any 125 I have ridden. You can just hold the bike wide open and listen to that sweet screaming sound as you bang through the gears. Sure the neighbors won’t like it but you and your buddy’s sure will. Everyone should own a 125 just to remember why we ride dirt bikes! The YZ 125 is a perfect stepping stone from an 85 or Super Mini. It’s still pretty small and feels super light and starts almost as easy as electric start. 125s really teach you how to ride too because you have to carry momentum and brake and shift perfectly! The Highlight of the new YZ was the Suspension. To me it felt incredible bone stock. Most 125 suspension and handling are great because the bikes are slow and light but the KYB suspension felt exceptional everywhere–nice and loose on the small bumps but rarely bottomed metal on metal even when over jumping. Awesome stock setting! The new look is great but I did catch my boot continually on the radiator shrouds because of the sharp edges. The jetting was spot on for our 70 degree riding day. I personally love the MX52 tires. I live in the NW where we have a wide range of dirt and run MX52s most of the time plus they last as well as anything out there. The bar bend was swept back a little far for me but that’s all personal preference stuff. The quality of the YZ 125 is first rate. This motor has been pretty much unchanged since they went to a six speed tranny in 06, so Yamaha has it dialed. All of the performance shops know how to make them really fly too. Awesome bike.
