The KX250 is all moto. It’s aggressive both motor wise and suspension wise. The engine pulls hard right off the bottom with a nice punch in the middle and revs nice and high. The suspension is stiff enough for the fastest riders bone stock and has plenty of adjustment. The brakes are a lot better than last year with the 270mm front rotor, but if you have ever ridden a KTM you know they can be even stronger. The rubber bar mounts are all over the place, a simple tip over and you’ll be stopping to straighten your bars! On the dyno, the ignition couplers show that the black one was rich and the white one was lean, so I have been switching them up according to weather. Black in the cold weather and white in the hot. To richen it up, you can add the black one along with performance items like a pipe or cams. The KX250 is loud, ask my mom and neighbors. They will tell you all about it. I ran a little more sag than normal and ended up between 105 and 110mm depending on the track. Over all, quality of the bike is good to great. The best part about the bike is it does everything well without any major problems and it has that fantastic motor. There are lots of KX250s at the local races, so parts and knowledge about them is everywhere. If you race at a national amateur level, Kawasaki offers the most help at the races through Team Green and Pro-Circuit. If you are really fast, Kawasaki has a good contingency program too.
