Building An Affordable Vet 250F MXer
Photos by Trevor Hunter
In the words of Jay Clark “Kent,” the master bike builder himself states “Jay Clark is a bit too old and chubby for a 250F (his words not ours); however, he loves the YZ250F platform and feels a 450 is too much. So, modifying a new YZ250F with an ECU from Twisted Development and a few other key mods is a no-brainer. Jay does wish that Yamaha would make a YZ350F, but at this point, he figures he will be retired from moto by the time that happens. The new YZ250F has some great durability updates so adding the Vortex ECU or even a Dual Injector is not hurting reliability and Jay feels the improvements of the trimmer new chassis are a big improvement and we all know the stock Yamaha tends to have the best suspension stock. Race Tech just added a bit for Jay’s more “vet” size and speed. Pair that with some Works Chassis Lab engine hangers and mounts and the chassis/suspension setup feels amazing.”
