Jimmy Rigged–Dirt Bike Test–Week Two

Jimmy Lewis Erzburg

So I’m sore. Really sore. Motocross tracks with big jumps will do that to a body. Especially when I’ve taken about six months off from riding the track. My timing was a little off and the jump landings were just a little too short, maybe some too long. There is nothing like flying a dirt bike through the air and no reward better than down-siding a perfect landing. But the milliseconds of agony when you are going long or short are what keep your heart healthy. I guess.

I didn’t want to take so much time away from the track, it just worked out that way. I’ve had other priorities, like building a log cabin and building this web site, plus I didn’t have anything “forcing” me to go to the track either. I tried to remember the last time I was at the MX track, was it for amateur day at the Hangtown National or did I squeeze in a day at Sandy Valley MX before summer got too hot? All I know is that I missed it and my timing needs more frequent practice sessions. My 125 was pretty loaded up when I fired it up as well.

We were out testing the 2015 Honda CRF 250R and taking the time to get it set up. Also spending time with the Showa technicians to really learn about the new air fork on the bike. There hasn’t been much informative editorial about the different air fork systems, how they work or how to set them up—and they are complicated. But that is what you get when you ask for technology that was on works bikes just a year or two ago and hope so-called experts try and explain it. We went to the experts so we’d understand. Soon we’ll have some stories on each of the bikes and some posts specifically the forks. These bikes are more than their forks but the front suspension is very interesting to say the least.  It has been an education and we want to pass the information along to you.

Awesome for me is much more track time in the near future. And lots of new bikes and product to test on the horizon. Were just getting rolling and my jump timing is coming back. Here’s to a lot of fun and plenty of safe landings.

See you on two wheels!

JIMMY
