First Look: 2027.5 KTM 250 & 450 SX-F Factory Editions, Husqvarna FC250 & FC450 Factory Editions
KTM and Husqvarna have officially dropped the curtain on the 2027.5 KTM 250 SX-F and 450 SX-F Factory Editions and FC250 & FC450 Factory Editions. While the mid-model “Factory Edition” release usually offers a preview of race-replica hardware and subtle revisions, the 2027.5 lineup serves as the launching pad for the Austrian group’s next-generation motocross engineering.
Something to note is the revamped 250 motor receives a totally redesigned valvetrain alongside oval-shaped intake ports and injectors. With TWO fuel injectors stock, a 14,500 RPM ceiling, and a massive 15.5:1 compression ratio off the showroom floor, it’s a radical step forward in the engine department as the Austrians look to maintain or even boost power while conforming to the new sound limits.

They also cranked up the output on the 450 Factory Editions, pushing peak numbers to claimed 63.8 hp at 10,000 RPM along with 52 Nm of torque at 7,000 RPM. Thanks to precise engine positioning, streamlined air intake routing, and electronic fuel mapping, that extra grunt is supposed to translate into usable, track-ready power rather than an unruly handful – something KTM has always been good at is making usable power for riders of all skill levels.

Key Updates Across the Board
1. WP XACT Closed-Cartridge Spring Forks Replace AER
The headline technical update for 2027.5 is the departure from air suspension. Both the 250 and 450 Factory Editions ditch the long-standing WP XACT AER air fork in favor of the WP XACT closed-cartridge spring forks as standard equipment. Paired with a revised WP rear shock setup, the spring front end delivers linear damping feel, consistent front-tire traction, and less fade during long, rough motos. We believe this will become standard on all models moving forward, not just the Factory Editions like they started with in the 2026.5 models.
2. Frame & Chassis Stiffness Tuned
KTM reworked the central double-cradle chromoly steel frame for the 2027.5 platform. By altering key wall thicknesses and engine mount flex points, the new frame targets improved chassis feedback, track stability, and corner-entry precision without transmitting harsh slap-down loads to the rider.
3. Slimmed-Down Ergonomics & Contact Points
The bodywork and cockpit receive a complete overhaul. The shroud and side panel profile are visibly narrower, giving riders a wider knee contact patch to grip the bike. A redesigned, high-grip seat profile and updated footpegs complement the sleeker midsection.
4. High-Volume Exhaust Systems (109 dB AMA Compliance)
To meet the updated 109 dB sound regulation enforced in AMA Pro Racing, both Factory Edition models feature revised engine layouts paired with larger-volume exhaust systems and mufflers. The modified header and canister retain bottom-to-mid grunt while taming overall exhaust output to clear inspection gates cleanly.
