New for 2026

KTM has announced their updates to the line of SX motocross and XC cross-country bikes. Included in the update are the 50 SX (and SX FACTORY EDITION), 65 SX, 85 SX, 125 SX, 250 SX, 300 SX, 250 SX-F, 350 SX-F, and 450 SX-F motocross machines, as well as the 250 XC, 300XC, 250 XC-F, and 450 XC-F cross-country bikes.

This is a year of minor refinements for these KTM motorcycles, and the announced changes are geared towards small improvements in the overall quality and usability of the bikes.

Motocross

Both the full sized motocross, and cross-country bikes receive updated in-mold graphics, an updated radiator cap arrangement, and a new protector cap for the fuel line quick disconnect. The radiator cap is claimed to allow easier access on all SX and XC models. We complained about KTM’s slight moves in the wrong direction in terms of ease of maintenance in our 2024 KTM 300 XC-W review, with the radiator cap being a big one since they’ve gone to this style.

The two stroke bikes in particular will be delivered with a new routing arrangement for the wiring harness, which KTM claims will improve weather resistance.

KTM did not announce a 2026 model for the 350 XC-F, or the 125 XC bikes.

Kids’ Bikes

The youth bikes received more attention in a minor model year update. KTM does not currently produce specific cross-country kids’ bikes, so these changes only affect the SX models.

The 50 SX and 65 SX have updated WP XACT AER, with updated internal components. The air cartridge and seals have been updated and KTM claims this will improve both damping and control. These bikes will also receive updated radiator cap arrangements to match the full size bikes. The 50, 65, and 85 SX models will now use a 17mm triple clamp nut. This is the same as the full sized bikes, which will help simplify tool kits for mom and dad. KTM claims this change will also provide an improved barrier against water and dirt. The 85 SX now comes equipped with an adjustable, two-position brake tip.

KTM also announced changes to the 65 SX clutch mounting system in the form of new coatings, and increased fastener torque tightening. We have reached out to KTM for further detail on the purpose, or purported benefits of this update, so stay tuned to Dirt Bike Test for more information.

Finally, KTM did not announce updates to their electric SX-E model.
