Astrisk AC System Intro

Asrisk AC System–More Air Through Your Nose

In this non-descriptive box is Astrisk’s latest product the AC System.

You have seen the little spots on rider’s noses for the past year and most speculated exactly as to what they were. Like the nose strips you see athletes wearing in many sports, the Astrisk AC system is one more way for goggle wearing athletes to get the most performance out of their bodies. In a sport as physically demanding as motocross it was a no brainier that better breathing was an area to look at but the dirt-free eye environment needed to compete makes the nose channel a bit of a tough zone to breathe through.

The Astrisk Crew invited the media out to Milestone Raceway for a fresh breath of air in motocross.

The kit includes the nose piece that attaches to the goggle and 20 stick-on nose pieces as well as a tool for placing the pads on your nose. Unless you sleep in them you should get 10 rides with the kit and there are additional pads available.

Astrisk founder Jim Castillo is a thinking man and he put his mind to work on this issue well before a lot of the scientific research of the benefits of nose breathing was available. But that put a sense of urgency on the development of the product you see here.

The key to the system is this foam-held plastic clip set that is backed with magnets. The piece attaches via clips to the nose of most goggles (there are two different kits, stage 3 and stage 4 depending on the number of layers of foam of your goggle) where it squeezes the foam of the goggle to a wider opening and then grabs the metal pieces on your nose and expands the sir channel.

Dirt Bike Test spent the day at Milestone MX park trying out the AC system and we can attest they are much more than a gimmick. You really feel the magnets grab you nose and expand the passageway. It is a noticeable feeling but not awkward and after a few minutes you don’t notice the pull any longer. But what you do notice is how much easier it is to intake air through your nose. One of our testers commented he never smelt so much at a track before. Another, a known non-nose breathing rider, said it reminded him to breathe through his nose and then the affects were really revealed when he did a moto without the AC System. He missed the extra air. Astrisk says the science speaks for itself but in their experience with top professional riders and a bunch of regular guys was reduced arm pump and in some cases a lower heart rate.

This is the metal piece that is encased in an adhesive strip that is attached to the sides of your nose. It takes a few tries to find your most ideal position for the proper lift and contact with your goggle especially when your helmet is on and fastened.

The system will sell for $59.95 and works with most popular goggle brands. Dirt Bike Test will be putting time on this little innovation and give you a full test in the near future.

Here are the nose pieces attached to Jimmy Lewis’ nose. They feel a little funny at first but feel like nothing after you have been wearing the goggle. When the goggle is on you really know they are there because they really do open up the nasal air passage.
