With the Prairie Dogs Last Dog Standing coming up this Saturday, June 18, at Glen Helen Raceway, we thought we’d share some photos of the course to give you some insight on what to look forward to or, if you are unable to make it, what you are missing out on.
New for this year is a 140 ft. long bridge spanning across a small ravine and up a steep uphill. This unique section provides something fun for all the racers no matter what skill level they are. This will be implemented in all 3 rounds: LD1, LD2, and LD3.
Back again is the infamous downhill “Pete’s Falls”. A few rock waterfalls await the riders as they enter one of the hardest sections of the course in the LD2 and LD3 rounds.
One of the easier rock drops in Pete’s Falls.
The firewood pit in the endurocross track built by Ty Davis is also ready to slow some riders as they try and progress through the course in hopes of finishing rounds 2 and 3.
Some small logs had been placed in front of these logs to make it a bit easier so the Prairie Dogs decided to remove them for the riders competing in LD2 and LD3.
Some fresh terrain being built to accommodate the course design and to make things a little more interesting and fun for the racers.
The pipes are back! “Dave’s Maze” appears to be one of the easier sections; however, it always proves to be a bottleneck as racers struggle to squeeze their bikes in and out of some of the tight spaces.
Got rocks? “Farell’s Alley” has quite a few with the endless rock waterfalls going up the canyon following Pete’s Falls. This always proves to be one of the toughest sections in LD2 and LD3.
Some more rocks await the brave competitors who want to test their abilities in one of America’s toughest races.
More fresh trail provided to keep the race fun and exciting in between the challenging obstacles in rounds 2 and 3.
“Last Dog” downhill is known as the toughest natural obstacle in the race; however, it provides some great scenery in between the several waterfalls as you attempt to ride down the canyon.
“The Gauntlet” is back again! After receiving some upgrades with the sprinkler system last year, the Prairie Dogs decided to throw another obstacle in the bridge to compliment the plethora of hanging tires. Can you see it?
Check out some GoPro footage of a few sections of the course!
