The 2016 KX250F is riding on a heritage of being the winningest 250F motocross bike in AMA competition. So much so that Kawasaki has decided to leave well enough alone and let the trophy chest do the talking for the 2016 KX. It’s bigger brother got all the attention and aside from a new green rear fender there isn’t much new to talk about with the smaller KX. But we’ve got one to test so we’ll spill the beans.
We do like the green fender better than the 2015’s white one but it doesn’t change the way the bike works. You can read the full test from our 2015 bike right here for the nitty gritty details: http://dirtbiketest.com/bike-tests/2015-kawasaki-kx250f/
Our lightweight tester Connor Giardina giving the KX a lesson in turning. Sharp cornering isn’t the KX’s strong point but we’re playing with settings to get the most out of it. Follow Connor on Instagram by clicking on this photo, he’s posting rad action all the time.
Stability and a planted nature are the high points of the KX chassis and that has not changed. Getting the bike to turn like some others can be a struggle, especially that following the front tire, feeling as if you are on rails type of turn. It does slide with the back end out around the turns quite well though. The use of a non-air spring fork will have some singing praise as the complexity of setting and understanding the new generation of air suspension has many taking a long look at what is considered an older technology. But proven. We’ll be spinning plenty more laps on this 2016 learning about setup and maybe some modifications that can make the most of the KX250F in the coming weeks. If you have questions you’d like answered in our full test, leave a comment below and we’ll do our best to get you an answer.
